Alumni Highlight

Christian Douglass
Wednesday, November 4, 2015
Congratulations to Christian Douglass, an Undergraduate Human Rights Program and the School of General Studies alumnus, on his new position at Mental Health America of Los Angeles. As a Housing and Benefits Specialist for Operation Healthy Homecoming, Christian serves as a Case Manager for veterans experiencing homelessness, working within both the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles and United States Department of Veterans Affairs. His role ensures veterans have access to both housing and services to address any mental, physical, emotional, and/or substance abuse needs.

Christian completed the Human Rights Major with a specialization in Political Science. Prior to Columbia, Christian served in the United States Navy, deploying twice to Afghanistan with the United States Marine Corps. He feels that the social activism inherent in working to solve the veteran homelessness in his native Southern California is the perfect complement to both his service to the country and his Human Rights education while at Columbia. Christian is also currently studying for the LSAT, and will apply to law school in the Southern California area beginning next fall, focusing on criminal defense.
