2016 Advocate Organizes Dialogue to Protect Human Rights Defenders

2016 Advocate Mulshid Muwonge, Jr. organized a community dialogue in western Uganda to discuss issues affecting the security and safety of female human rights defenders in the region. The dialogue included law enforcement officers, probation officers, officers responsible for family and child protection, community development officers, religious leaders, and representatives from cultural institutions.

Mulshid is a Communications Executive with Defenders Protection Initiative, a non-governmental organization based in Kampala  that provides human rights defenders with contextualized skills and tools to mainstream security,  safety and protection management in their work. He has experience in project management,  fundraising and strategic planning. He is a certified Organizational Learning and Development Professional. His research interest include sexual and reproductive health rights, gender mainstreaming and democratization in Africa.
