In honor of HRAP’s 35th anniversary, ISHR has asked Columbia University alumni to share their recollections of the program. The second alumnus to be featured is Rose Anderson who earned the HRSMA from ISHR in 2014.

During the UN Commission on the Status of Women in March (CSW68), 2023-24 Advocate Esther Kimiri of the Zamara Foundation in Kenya spoke at the session "Leaking through the Cracks: Unprotected by the Social Systems." She discussed the importance of comprehensive and effective social protection systems as one of the main pillars for achieving the SDGs emphasized by the United Nations and in line with the CSW68 priority and review themes.

2022-23 Advocate Antonia Moreira is featured on a recent podcast from Harvard University. Antonia is the Director of Strategy at Atelier TRANSmoras Association, a trans-led non-profit organization that works through economic empowerment and artistic production to change the scenario of violence towards trans people. While in HRAP, Antonia attended the International LGBTQI+ Activism Summit at Harvard.

Samuel Matsikure of Aidsfonds addressed the House of Representatives of the Netherlands on March 19th.  He reported how Dutch money has contributed to the prevention of millions of AIDS deaths. He called on the Dutch government to continue to provide this support, especially with regard to vulnerable groups such as LGBTIQ people. You can watch him here.
