Prison Watch Sierra Leone serves as a hub for all issues of detainees and prisoners in Sierra Leone. Monitoring and advocacy are the cornerstone of PWSL’s work. PWSL has more than 35 advocates whose role is to monitor prisons and other detention facilities, and lead grassroots advocacy through both print and electronic media, and traditional methods court barry (town hall) meetings for reforms.
Over an 8-week period, conduct an assessment of the mental health needs of prisoners. Interview prisoners, prison guards, the chief medical officers at the prisons, prison nurses, officials from the Ministry of Health, and officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The student volunteer will report to the Executive Director.
Preference will be given to graduate students with experience in mental health and prisoners' rights
PWSL will work with the volunteer to find suitable housing at a reasonable cost.
