Indivisibility in Practice

Wednesday, October 26, 2016 12:10 PM - 1:10 PM

A Discussion on the Right to Life with the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing, Leilani Farha.

Respondents:
Jamil Dakwar, Director, ACLU's Human Rights Program
Daniela Ikawa, Strategic Litigation Program Coordinator, ESCR-Net

Special Rapporteur Farha will consider the issue of indivisibility by focusing on the right to life addressed in her report to the UN General Assembly. The right to life embodies the commitment to the dignity, security and inherent worth of every human being, yet it has often been interpreted narrowly as protection from deliberate State measures. Special Rapporteur Farha argues that now is the time for an integrated and comprehensive understanding of the right to life that puts indivisibility into practice.
