During the month of December, StoryCorps is featuring an interview with 2021-22 Advocate Dominique St. Vil (left) of Haiti. Dominique is the Executive Director and Administrative Director of OTRAH (Organisation Trans d’Haïti). Over the past 10 years, HRAP participants have been learning about oral history from StoryCorps. Many have chosen to accept the organization's offer to record their stories.

ISHR is pleased to announce the 2024 Human Rights Essay Contest. The contest aims to encourage and acknowledge students who have written exceptional academic papers that address issues related to human rights. Cash prizes will be awarded to two graduate students and to two undergraduate students. Contest winners, along with other selected participants, may be invited to present their essay at an ISHR event.

2010 Advocate Bakary Tandia (right), a co-founder of The Abolition Institute, and his colleagues led a high-profile US delegation on a fact-finding mission to Mauritania from October 29 to November 7, 2023.  During the visit they met with human rights leaders and heard stories from victims. "This visit is an unprecedented boost to our collective struggle,” said Dr. Alassane Dia, President of Touche Pas Ma Nationality, an organization fighting statelessness.
