Indigenous Youth: Through Their Eyes

Upcoming Book Collaboration
Tuesday, May 15, 2018

We are excited to announce “Indigenous Youth: Through Their Eyes”, a book collaboration between the UN Global Indigenous Youth Caucus and Columbia University's Institute for the Study of Human Rights, coming in 2019. The book will be edited by Elsa Stamatopoulou, Director of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Program, along with Dali Angel and Victor Lopez-Carmen, two members of the UN Global Indigenous Youth Caucus.

In recent times, Indigenous Youth from around the world have been organizing at local, regional, national and international levels to bring forward both the urgency and their visions of a more just future for Indigenous Peoples. “Global Indigenous Youth: Through Their Eyes” will give a deeper insight into the experiences of Indigenous Youth around the world.

14 Indigenous youth authors, 2 from each UN Indigenous region, will write about the human rights challenges Indigenous youth face, what it is like to be an Indigenous youth today compared to generations past, the role of Indigenous youth in traditional knowledge preservation and transmission, and how Indigenous youth imagine a future of well-being and dignity for their communities.
