Job Description

The Communications Assistant Work-Study provides communications support to ISHR. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, excellent writing skills, and experience providing administrative and communication support. Knowledge of human rights and relevant research skills are strongly preferred. This is a work-study position open only to current Columbia University students.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Provide administrative support for communication team;
  • Post ISHR events to Columbia University Events Calendar;
  • Maintain ISHR social media and work to expand social media outreach;
  • Provide editorial assistance for ISHR web content and materials;
  • Draft event and news blurbs
  • Send Institutional newsletter using MailChimp;;
  • Prepare and disseminate visual advertising materials and emails;
  • Assist in the posting of material to ISHR website.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational & communications skills;
  • Strong research, writing and editing skills;
  • Interest in human rights;
  • Experience managing social media accounts, specifically Facebook and Twitter;
  • Website management experience preferred.

Hours

This position will require a commitment of 7.5 to 10 hours per week at $16.00 per hour.
