Communications Assistant (Work Study Position)

Position Summary: Reporting to the Deputy Director of the Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR), the temporary communications coordinator supports the organization and management of ISHR's projects and programs, with prime responsibility to communications and outreach. IMPORTANT NOTE: We are ideally looking for someone who will be able to work through mid-September. Responsibilities The communications coordinator will provide communications support while the current coordinator is on temporary leave. This person will support the Institute's communication, outreach and information systems. In particular, this person will be responsible for managing the publication of the Institute’s annual report, managing day-to-day communications needs, and supporting ISHR events. The incumbent will also provide general programmatic and operational support to the Institute as needed. The incumbent will work closely with all ISHR staff members. Overlap with permanent communications will allow for on-the-job training for approximately two weeks.

Minimum Qualifications: Communications experience. Computer and internet proficiency. Excellent writing and communications skills. Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of related experience. Website content management and editing experience preferred. Advanced degree in human rights, international affairs or related field preferred or experience working with a human rights or social justice organization.

Job Location: Remote

Hours: 10 to 20 hours per week

Hourly Rate: $23.50/hour
