Abstract | The essay discusses the documentary film entitled "The Economics of Happiness" directed by Helena Norberg-Hodge, Steven Gorelick, and John Page. It focuses on how the film portrays the location of Ladakh, India, considering historical memory, globalization, and transition economies. The biases of Norberg-Hodge as a proponent of the localist movement are explored. Other topics include economies of scale, the interrelationship between happiness and income, and a comparison of happiness in both developed and developing countries. |
