Abstract

The article explores memory work done on the sites of former National Socialist camps. It discusses the wider context of Polish politics of memory as practiced with respect to different historical and cultural traumas or cultural trauma. It focuses on historical events instead of Holocaust, but fundamental for Polish national identity building and on public memory's character shaped by monuments that commemorate the events.
