Abstract

The article focuses on the significance of memorialization as response to human rights violations. It examines the claim that the reason for international actors' involvement in memorialization efforts is the transitional states' unwillingness or inability to memorialize human rights abuses. Moreover, it notes the transformative effects of establishing memorials and the role of the international community in the memorialization efforts of transitional societies.
