Moscow's victory park: A monumental change

Schleifman deals with the memory of a tremendous victory for Russia during the "The Great Patriotic War," as the 1941-1945 war is called, charged with the most important ideological meanings, embedded in and conditioned by a certain environment, whose commemoration with the decision to establish a Victory Park in Moscow met with unexpected difficulties. He also looks into the interrelations between memory and commemoration in the particular Soviet and Russian circumstances.
