Abstract

The article examines the entire body of Edward Said's work and focuses on the repetition of various themes and ideas. The article also discusses Said's trip to Palestine in the 1990s and his increasing use of autobiographical structures in his writing. Said's work is seen as part of a greater project of work on identity, language and memory. The author believes that Said uses "secular mourning" as part of creating historical memory and envisioning politics.
