Investigates the contemporary episode of Tai-Ahom unfolding in Assam, India, which involves multiple border crossings, cultural, emotional and political, to produce a history of connections and interactions between South and Southeast Asia to reconstruct a pluralistic identity. Information on the Indian, Assamese and Ahom people; Overview of a conference which discussed strategies on how to make Ahom part of Southeast Asian cultures and community; Discussion on how Thai scholars have facilitated the Tai-Ahom identity movement.
