Abstract | The article discusses the use of examples of former cricketer Don Bradman and Australian cricket to analyze how nostalgia informs the understanding of the past. In understanding Australian history and sports history, the author contended that theories of nostalgia have been under utilized. Roland Perry's "The Don: A Biography," a book that has been characterized by one critic as having as much substance as a comic book is the most obvious example of nostalgia as a retreat among the Bradman literature.
