Abstract

The article examines how truth commissions and prosecutions address the rights and needs of victims of mass atrocities. It describes the concerns of human rights victims such as poor implementation of the prosecution model and the due process. It examines the claim that truth commissions are more victim-friendly than prosecutions. Moreover, it identifies essential functions of transitional justice that must be present to address the victims' predicament.
