As we approach the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, there has been a proliferation of international institutions, government initiatives, and civil society movements dedicated to the advancement of human rights. At the same time, the concept and implementation of human rights have faced new and diverse forms of skepticism and resistance both within countries and transnationally.
To advance our understanding of human rights and support contemporary research on this issue, we invite students and faculty in all social science disciplines to attend our conference, sponsored by the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy (ISERP) and the Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR). Graduate students will present on topics ranging from gender, socioeconomic rights, backlash, public opinion, and human rights at the United Nations.
