Since 2017, reports have indicated that at least one million Uyghur and other Chinese Muslims have been interned in "re-education camps" without due process rights or trial. How are they transferred to the camps? What are the conditions there and the consequences of mass internment and indoctrination on the population? What are the root causes behind this campaign? How does the Chinese government justify these actions? And what have international and domestic responses been? Our expert panelists will explore current practices of the Chinese government in surveilling, monitoring, and interning Uyghur and other Muslim populations in Xinjiang, and address what human rights advocates and the broader public can do to end these systemic human rights violations.
