Friday, September 22, 2017 1:00 PM - 2:00 PMKent Hall, 1140 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY 10027 Room 624The Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR) invites you to a brown bag discussion with Jina Moore, East Africa Bureau Chief, The New York Times. Jina Moore, a 2008 graduate of SIPA, has been reporting on human rights, global health, and transitional justice in Africa for nearly a decade. In country after country and crisis after crisis, Moore has seen how international institutions overlook look expertise and sideline local actors. She’s turned to those same local actors as experts to produce ground-breaking and award-winning work. Moore will share examples from her fieldwork of the bias often embedded in international institutions -- and the very real consequences that myopia has often wrought.
