2016 Advocate Samuel Matsikure was honored with the 2023 African Feather of the Year Award at Africa's biggest queer awards ceremony which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
When recognizing Samuel, the organizers of the ceremony said, "The LGBTIQ+ liberation movement is hard, the only thing that makes it easier is having strong leaders that are willing to keep pushing even when the going gets harder. Your activism, strength, and contributions are valued, Samuel Matsikure." Samuel is the Team Lead of Key Populations International at SOAIDS Nederlands. He was previously with Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe.
