Advocate Agnes Atim Apea Honored

Congratulations to 2010 Advocate Agnes Atim Apea, founder and CEO of the Hope Development Initiative (HDI), who was honored for her work mobilizing funds for the construction of a girls dormitory in the Amolatar District in Northern Uganda.

HDI is dedicated to empowering rural women in Uganda to become financially independent. An entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience working with development agencies, Agnes strives every day to instill that same drive that motivated her to found HDI in the farmers with whom she works.

For her tireless devotion to HDI’s cause, Agnes was honored with the Presidential Golden Jubilee Award on International Women’s Day in 2016. She is a recipient of Uganda Women Entrepreneurs’ Honorary Award, the Cordaid Home Based Care Award, Columbia University’s Human Rights Advocacy Award and the University of Reading’s Social Science Studentship Award. Agnes completed her PhD in International Development from University of Reading in the United Kingdom, and holds a Masters in Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University in Uganda.
