2023-24 Advocate Andrea Tock, who is the Director of Learning and Impact at the Women’s Justice Initiative in Guatemala, participated in the panel discussion titled "Feminist Grassroots Justice: Building Power, Shaping Change" at the Ford Foundation on March 13th, 2024. The panel was part of the parallel events held during the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York City.
The panel focused on feminist-led empowerment strategies to bring about structural change. To confront systemic injustices, communities must be able to know, use and shape the law. Andrea was joined by feminist advocates from Mexico, Uganda, India, Brazil and the USA. During this session Andrea talked about the impactful work that her organization, the Women's Justice Initiative, does in Guatemala. The event explored how to support grassroots legal empowerment efforts, advancing access to justice for women at individual, community and institutional levels.
