Bárbara Matias

Bárbara graduated in May 2018 with an MA in Human Rights Studies and was the recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship. Her studies focused on forced displacement and migration. Her thesis on Portugal’s role in the European Refugee Crisis was among the first in the North American academy tackling this research topic. During her time at Columbia University, she was also awarded the GSAS Fall Award for academic merit and served as teaching assistant to the Department of Political Science’s undergraduate class on the Introduction of Human Rights.
 
Luiz Pecora

After finalizing ISHR's Human Rights Studies Program and obtaining his Master's in 2018, Luiz Pecora joined Human Rights Watch's team in São Paulo, his hometown. As the Coordinator of the Brazil Office, he was responsible for assisting the Brazil Director with her advocacy effort in the country, while coordinating a wide range of activities of the organization locally.

AHDA 2018 Fellow Bayar Mustafa, Ph.D. following the experience at the Columbia University fellowship program co-edited a book entitled "Beyond ISIS: History and Future Religious Minorities in Iraq" (2019). Korab Krasniqi

AHDA 2018 Fellow Korab Krasniqi was involved in the publication and exhibition on the issue of missing persons from the war in Kosovo. The exhibition was installed at the premises of Kosovo Assembly and the memory book with stories of family members of the missing was published in three languages (English, Albanian, and Serbian).
