Working with the Norwegian Human Rights Fund, ISHR Professor Louis Bickford, founder of Memria.org, has recently launched the I Defend Rights project to help create new narratives about human rights defenders.
In our current era, when rights are under extreme attack in so many countries, it has never been more important to remind people worldwide about why we defend rights. To do this, the I Defend Rights project is collecting, curating, and disseminating a global archive of the voices of human rights defenders using the Memria.org audio platform.
They also need your story. It’s so easy. You’ll be done in seven minutes. No preparation is necessary. You can delete, start over and re-record whatever you’d like.
Just click on “Participate” and follow instructions to set up an account using your laptop or desktop computer and share your story. (Unfortunately, you can’t do it on your phone – yet). Then use the built-in microphone and answer three basic questions. Talk for as little or as long as you’d like. You can upload photographs too. (No video). At the end of the process, you can choose to be listed as anonymous.
Please circulate the website(s) to your colleagues, compatriots, and partners, so their voices can join your own in this collection.
