We just got the great news via the Spectator’s article by Isabella Ramirez :
“Manhattan House, the special interest community for Indigenous students, acquired the vacant brownstone at 531 W. 113th St. on Monday under the new name Indigehouse. Previously housed in River Hall on 114th Street, the SIC’s move will mark the establishment of the first-ever residential building devoted to Columbia’s indigenous community”. In an interview, Kianna Pete, CC ’23, the Manhattan House recruitment liaison and Native American Council publicity director, said “To have a dedicated building is, in itself, a presentation of Indigenous presence here on campus.”
We congratulate Columbia for this new positive step!
