ISHR faculty joined an Amicus Brief with International Law Professors, Experts, Practitioners, and Scholars in the case of Khalil v. Joyce. The Amicus Brief expresses profound concern that the arrest, detention, and threatened deportation of Columbia alumnus Mahmoud Khalil “violates his fundamental human rights and puts the rights of many others at risk”—specifically, that government actions in the case “threaten universal human rights protected by international law, including the rights to opinion, expression, association, and assembly on a nondiscriminatory basis.” The Brief supports the motion for a preliminary injunction in the case.
