Friday, May 5, 2017

Congratulations to 2015 AHDA Fellow Nora Ahmetaj who co-authored a report examining the role and work of Kosovo’s Inter-Ministerial Working Group on Dealing with the Past and Reconciliation (IMWG).

The IMWG was launched in 2012 to dealing with Kosovo's war-time past by developing a strategy for transitional justice. However, the report finds that five years later the IMWG "has not lived up to expectations" amid internal deficiencies and a lack of engagement by the public among other problems.

Nora Ahmetaj is a founder and director of the Centre for Research, Documentation and Publication (CRDP). CRDP’s foundation was inspired by a need to seek transitional justice, reconciliation and right to truth for victims and former adversaries of the Kosovo conflict.  The mission of CRDP is to develop mechanisms related to dealing with the past through research, documentation, publication and advocacy.
