ISHR Human Rights Research Fellowship

ISHR's Human Rights Research Fellowship supports Columbia University faculty, conducting research related to human rights, and will provide students with an opportunity to gain valuable research experience. ISHR will award up to three student research stipends in the amount of $1,500 in the 2021-2022 academic year.
Students who receive the Human Rights Research Fellowship are expected to complete approximately 80-120 hours of research assistance. Specific research opportunities for students will be announced as they become available.

ISHR Welcomes 2021-2022 HRSMA Cohort

Please join ISHR in welcoming the 2021-22 cohort of students in the Human Rights Studies M.A. Program! Forty-one students from around the world will join the MA program to pursue their academic studies with a focus on issues ranging from refugee and migrant rights to transitional justice, childrens' rights, gender and sexuality, race and ethnicity, and environmental justice, among others. 

We look forward to welcoming all ISHR students back on campus this semester!

2021 Human Rights Research Fellowship Recipients

ISHR launched a new fellowship opportunity - the Human Rights Research Fellowship - which provides funding to students who wish to gain valuable research experience, while supporting the work of Columbia faculty conducting human rights-related research. Human rights students across Columbia received a research fellowship to support faculty in the departments of Political Science (Barnard and Columbia), History (Barnard College), the Center on Sustainable Investment (Columbia Law School), Peace and Human Rights Education (Teachers College).
