2015 Advocate Louisa Essendi is currently working as a consultant JINSIANGU:  an Intersex, Transgender and Gender non-conforming organization in Kenya, and identifies herself as a black, lesbian, queer, feminist, womxn. Gigi is also the Board Chair with Minority Womxn in Action and Rainbow Womxn of Kenya, both of which are Lesbian, Bisexual and Queer womxn-led organizations in Nairobi and Mombasa, respectively. Essendi also works as an independent consultant, working within Kenya and other countries in the region.

A Columbia University student involved in the Summer Volunteer Program with ISHR contributed to the European Observatory on Memories (EUROM) review of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. EUROM is based at the University of Barcelona.

2011 Advocate Elvis Mbembe Binda is the president and a founding member of Initiatives for Peace and Human Rights, which helps communities and individuals in Africa’s Great Lakes Region live in peaceful coexistence. Through Avocats Sans Frontieres-Belgium, Elvis has assisted many minors and vulnerable persons before the courts in Rwanda. He has also worked as deputy coordinator at Forum d’Echanges pour la Cohesion Sociale and as a human rights officer with Central Africa Youth Network, where he taught the youth of Rwanda, Burundi, and eastern DRC about human rights.
