2015 Fellow Nayla Hamadeh recounted her time with the Alliance for Historical Dialogue and Accountability (AHDA) in a recent
article
for the
European Association of History Educators
. Nayla cites the many benefits of the workshops, networking opportunities, site visits, cultural events, and academic courses affiliated with the fellowship. Additionally, Nayla discusses the invaluable exchange of ideas with her fellow AHDA participants:
"Although our countries have received much front media exposure in the last forty years, we discovered how much we could learn from each other about what took place and how people deal with war and post war. "
Nayla is a founding member of the
Lebanese Association for History
(LAH), an organization that aims to support history teachers and to promote the learning and teaching of history as a discipline in Lebanon. In particular, the organization seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of history, and to ensure that history education in the country is inquiry based and critically engaging.
