Abstract | This article takes as a point of departure Edward Said's statement "I am a Jewish-Palestinian," that he made to an Israeli newspaper in 2000. The article examines the relationship between, race, religion, language and politics in talking about the conflict in Palestine. The author discusses Said's intellectual formation and his desire to use history and memory to shed new light on the use of language in the conflict in Palestine. The article mentions Said's differentiation between anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism.
