Abstract | Aquel invierno concentrates on the younger generation's attitude towards their parents' experiences, an attitude which is very much committed to remedying the injustices to which their grandparents were subjected and also to the recuperation of their memory. Accordingly, this article also seeks to illuminate how a transformed cultural memory embodied by les lieux de mémoire (Nora, 1989), facilitates the articulation of a long-dormant Republican post-memory. This article seeks to examine the trajectory of the resolution of the post-memory of both the children and grandchildren of the Republicans, that is the inherited traumatic memory of their parents and grandparents, and also seeks to ascertain the factors which enable this resolution. I will interpret Alfons Cervera's tetralogy as what Susannah Radstone terms 'a trauma text', which can be read literally as a 'fictionalized account of survivors testimonies' (2008: 34). (English)
