Abstract

The article explores the history of revolution in Ireland and the adaptation of French revolutionary traditions. The author reflects on the influence of the book "Les Lieux de mémoire" edited by Pierre Nora on Irish scholars of memory. Emphasis is given to topics such as the impact of French political culture on democratic aspirations in Ireland, the development of communal conflict in Northern Ireland, and collective solidarity through shared historical narratives. Other topics include the use of nonviolent action by revolutionary socialists in Northern Ireland, violence during the era of the Troubles, and the leadership of radical Eamonn McCann.
