In commemoration of this day Native American Council of Columbia University will be hosting a celebration on Columbia University's Sundial. Below is an outline of the day's events:
Native American Council will be tabling on the Sundial. If you'd like to assist in tabling or want to come out to support the council, please join us.
Indigenous Peoples's Day Panel (12:10pm-1pm):
Location: Jerome Green, Room 105
Join the Native American Law Student Association (NALSA), the Center for Court Innovation (CCI), the Criminal Justice Action Network (CJAN), and Empowering Women of Color (EMOC) at a panel in celebration of Indigenous Peoples' Day. Distinguished Columbia Law School Alumni Precious Benally and Adelle Fontanet will discuss their work at the Center for Court Innovation with Tribal courts implementing re-entry programs, community courts, and procedural justice.
Open Mic (5pm-6pm):
Location: Sundial
The open-mic during Indigenous Peoples' Day is a space for Native community members and allies to share, speak or perform. In previous years, we've had people do spoken word poetry, sing, dance, talk about their indigeneity, or share a piece of writing. Feel free to bring your creativity!
