Human Rights Advocates Program (HRAP) alumnae Elina Horo of India, Marayah Fyneah of Liberia, Edna Kaptoyo of Kenya, and Huda Shafig of Sudan participated in the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
Elina Horo presented on the CSW62 panel Indigenous Women’s Rights: A Vital Tool to Ensure Gender Equality and Economic and Social Empowerment.
During CSW62, HRAP, The Prospect Hill Foundation, and The Sperry Fund organized a capacity building workshop on Empowering Rural Women and Girls through Advocacy. Speakers from WITNESS, Breaking Ground, Save the Children, and The Abolition Institute--represented by co-founder and 2010 Advocate Bakary Tandia--covered topics including data-based advocacy, video advocacy and the power of symbols. Attendees came from countries including Australia, Bosnia, India, and Liberia. Izza Tan of Australia said she appreciated the breadth of the capacity building workshop as well as the opportunity to interact with the presenters and fellow participants over lunch.
Finally, HRAP hosted a gathering on campus in honor of the program alumnae who attended CSW62.
