Madiha Choksi, Research Technologist at Columbia University and Master in Human Rights Graduate and Dr. Pierre Elias, Cardiology Fellow at Columbia University developed 3D printed face shields for health care workers amidst shortage due to COVID19 crisis. Dr. Elias recognized the big trouble they were facing as they were running low on protective gear at New York hospitals and reached out to Madiha who is a research technologist at Columbia University an specializes in 3D printing. She optimized the prototype shared by Dr. Elias to make printing more efficient and created an assembly line in her apartment. The design was a success so they started producing as many as possible to deliver to hospitals.
