On behalf of the International House Davis Projects for Peace Adjudication Committee, and the Davis United World Scholars Program, 2019 Advocate Mariano Ruiz was awarded a Davis Projects for Peace grant for his project, Creating Diverse Communities for Receiving Syrian Refugees in Argentina. He is among 12 in the International House community who will carry out projects in 11 different countries this summer - along with 10 winners from last summer whose projects were put on hold due to the pandemic. Projects for Peace is the vision of the late Kathryn Davis, an International House alumna who, on her 100th birthday in 2007, launched this program at over 90 college campuses in the United States as a way to inspire young people to bring new energy and ideas to the prospects of peace in the world. In 2008, Mrs. Davis extended funding for multiple projects to International House, which held a special place in her memory.
