Exploring the relation between the Arts and human rights

This panel seeks to promote a dialogue to articulate and debate essential questions about the relationship between arts and human rights, discuss models of collaboration between arts and human rights actors, and explore the role arts may play to restrain or violate rights, and how to tackle such concerns.

Panelists:
  • Ruti Teitel, Ernst C. Stiefel Professor of Comparative Law at New York Law School, Co-Director of the Center for International Law, and Director of the Institute for Global Law, Justice, and Policy
  • Frances Negron-Muntaner, M.A. in Visual Anthropology and Masters in Fine Arts, Temple; Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, Rutgers. Frances Negrón-Muntaner is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and scholar. She is the recipient of Ford, Truman, Scripps Howard, Rockefeller, and Pew fellowships as well as a Social Science Research Council and Andy Warhol Foundation grants
  • Daniel Alejandro Pinilla, 2021-22 Advocate and Director of Communications for the Americas at the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL)
  • Luis Corzo, A Brooklyn based multidisciplinary artist. He received his BFA in Photography and Contemporary Creation at IDEP, Barcelona in 2012. He works using the different disciplines of photography, but also with video to explore the obscurities of human activity and the space in which we inhabit
