Human Rights and Social Justice Training Series

Call for Workshops & Facilitators

The Institute for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University is looking for experienced human rights practitioners and educators to develop and facilitate workshops for its Human Rights and Social Justice Training Series.

The Training Series is aimed at enhancing the practical skills and professional development of students in our programs through interactive and learner-centered human rights workshops. While the length and format of individual workshops vary, most trainings are completed over the course of a day or less (typically between 4-8 hours). Examples of past workshops can be found here.

To apply, please send the following materials to humanrightsed@columbia.edu. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis:
  • A brief description of the workshop (approximately 250 words)
  • A list of learning objectives
  • Proposed structure, format, and duration of the workshop 
  • A short bio and a CV
  • A letter of interest, detailing prior teaching experience or experience with facilitating human rights or social justice trainings
  • Participant feedback surveys or course evaluations (if applicable) 
Preference will be given to in-person workshops, which will be held on site at Columbia University in New York City. If you are interested in proposing an online training, please indicate so in your application materials.
