ISHR hosted Brian Phillips, co-founder and co-editor of the Journal of Human Rights Practice (Oxford University Press), for the first-ever video chat with HRAP alumni. He spoke with advocates on three continents about the opportunities for human rights practitioners to publish in the Journal. He referred to earlier articles written by 2009 Advocate of Kenya and 2010 Advocate James Aniyamuzaala of Uganda. Brian also spoke with a group of eight graduate students about publishing in human rights.
A human rights practitioner and educator based in Toronto, Brian was Chair of the Oxford Brookes University MA program in Humanitarian and Development Practice as well as Senior Lecturer in Human Rights Practice. Prior to that he worked as a campaigner and educator for Amnesty International in London.
He has been meeting with HRAP cohorts every fall since 2009.
