Stephanie Athey is Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies at Lasell College in the Boston area. She is Co-Director of Mexico Shoulder to Shoulder International Service-Learning Program at Lasell. She has published essays on eugenic feminisms in the nineteenth century, race and reproductive technologies, and colonial discourse in the Americas . Her recent book, Sharpened Edge: Women of Color, Resistance and Writing (Praeger, 2003) explores transnational feminist struggles and human rights. While at Columbia University, Dr. Athey was advised by Professor Andrew Nathan.
