    Volunteer opportunity at NGO Atina

If you want your time to matter, Atina is the place to be.

    1. Background
NGO Atina is more than an organization, it is a front line community built on courage, solidarity, and the belief that every woman and girl deserves safety, dignity, and the power to shape her own future. Since 2003, Atina has been standing with survivors of human trafficking, sexual violence, digital exploitation, and multiple forms of discrimination. Our work is long-term, feminist, trauma-informed, and rooted in the realities of women and girls who refuse to be reduced to their experiences of violence.
Atina runs licensed safe housing, a Reintegration Center, mobile outreach teams, digital safety programs, survivor-led advocacy groups, and a social enterprise, Bagel Bejgl, known across Belgrade not only for the best bagels in the city but also for creating fair economic opportunities for women rebuilding their lives.
Volunteers are a vital part of this movement. You strengthen our advocacy, contribute to research, support community actions, and help amplify survivor voices.
    2. Purpose of the Volunteer Role
As a volunteer, you’ll support Atina’s program, research, and advocacy efforts by helping us document stories and insights, prepare community activities, and communicate our work to a broader audience. Your contribution will directly support survivor-centered initiatives and evidence-based advocacy.
    3. Main Responsibilities
    • Research&documentation: support the team in gathering, organizing, and summarizing information from fieldwork, reports, and ongoing programs.
    • Program support: assist with preparing materials and providing light logistical support for workshops, meetings, and survivor-led activities.
    • Communication: contribute to creating short texts, social media content, or outreach materials that help share Atina’s mission with the broader community.

    4. Expected Deliverables

    • A short analytical summary or brief based on assigned research tasks.
    • Contributions to communication or outreach content.
    • Additional small deliverables agreed upon at the start of the engagement.

    5. Duration: 8 weeks, with flexible working hours and the possibility of hybrid engagement.

    6. Supervision: Volunteers will work with and be mentored by an Atina Program Coordinator or another designated team member.

    7. Who Are We Looking For?
You don’t need to know everything, you just need to care deeply and be willing to learn. Ideal volunteers have:

    • A genuine interest in human rights, gender equality, migration, and anti-trafficking work.
    • Good research, writing, and organizational skills.
    • Openness to trauma-informed and survivor-centered approaches.
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, committed team.

An in-person volunteer is preferred. Atina will help the student to find a short-term accommodation. Atina reports that short-term stays in Belgrade range from $600 to $1000 USD per month.
