Abstract

The article focuses on the proposal to create a World Trade Center (WTC) Memorial site New York City. The significance regarding the formation of viable political identities within the context of multi-cultural, democratic society were taken into account. On the other hand, the uses and abuses of memory in the formation of political identity were also examined. Remembering and honoring individuals who died during the September 11, 2001, recognizing the endurance of survivors and respecting the sacredness of the place were among the purpose of building the site.
