The Indigenous Peoples' Rights Program of ISHR is pleased to announce that our partner FIMI, the International Indigenous Women's Forum and collaborating organizations have decided to convene the Second World Conference of Indigenous Women, virtually, from August 12 to September 2, 2021. To facilitate participation from all regions, there will be a session each Thursday:

First: From 8:00am - 12:00m (Peru time)

Second: From 10:00am - 2:00pm (Philippines time)

Elazar Barkan will be stepping down as Executive Director of the Institute on June 30th and on behalf of faculty, staff, students, and affiliates, ISHR would like to thank him for his many contributions. Professor Barkan joined the Institute in 2006 as Co-director and continued to lead as Director starting in 2008.

Film Festivals continue to offer their Indigenous programs online, sometimes for long duration online, sometimes only for the posted day/time, some are in hybrid form, with a combination of screenings in theaters and drive-ins and online, and some returning to screens. In most cases, you can link directly to the Festival’s own website to see the schedule, titles and descriptions of this year’s streamed programs. In May the expansive scope of Asian and Pacific Island heritages in the United States is focused on annually.
