ISHR is pleased to announce the 2020 Human Rights Essay Contest.  The contest aims to encourage and acknowledge students who have written exceptional academic papers that address issues related to human rights. Cash prizes will be awarded to two graduate students and to two undergraduate students. Contest winners, along with other selected participants, will be invited to present their papers at ISHR's annual end of year Research Poster Session

The Institute for the Study of Human Rights has recently launched a new Human Rights Research Fellowship. The fellowship will support faculty, conducting research related to human rights and will provide students with an opportunity to gain valuable research experience. ISHR will award up to three student research stipends in the amount of $1,500 in 2019-2020.

Columbia and ISHR staff participated on an all-female panel at the 63rd Commission on the Status of Women in March. The panel, "Access to Menstrual Health as a Public Service: The Lived Experiences of Women and Girls," was "dedicated to elevating menstrual health as a cross-cutting rights issue that warrants increased attention in global policies."
