Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR) and the Law School Human Rights Institute (HRI) are thrilled to congratulate long-standing collaborator, Catherine Coleman Flowers, for receiving the Macarthur Fellowship.  ISHR and HRI have worked with Coleman Flowers to draw attention to the sanitation crisis facing Lowndes, County Alabama and communities across the US.

During summer 2020, three Columbia University students volunteered with organizations affiliated with the Alliance of Historical Dialogue and Accountability Fellowship (AHDA) alumni and one with an organization affiliated with the Human Rights Advocates Program (HRAP) alumni. These opportunities were created through the Summer Volunteer Program based at the Institute for the Study of Human Rights.

2018 Advocate Marijana Savic, the director of Atina in Belgrade, Serbia, has been recognized by the online magazine CATALYST as one of five feminists around the world working to end femicide. The article is available here
