Advocate Marija Krstevska is participating in the 2021-22 HRAP. She has been involved in the youth sector in North Macedonia in various capacities over the past 12 years, starting as a participant and volunteer and moving up the ranks as a project coordinator, moderator, facilitator and trainer. She is now the Secretary General of Center for Intercultural Dialogue (CID), a youth organization in Kumanovo.

“Rules are rules”, said Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison about the so-called Djokovic affair. Whatever you think of Mr. Morrison and his draconian immigration policies, Novak Djokovic should be deported from Australia for violating the law. He deserves scorn for knowingly exposing youth to the COVID-19 virus. Djokovic showed he is a Serbian nationalist by turning his immigration status into a political spectacle.

Advocate Isabella Mukankusi is participating in the 2021-22 HRAP. She is the Legal and Advocacy Advisor at MyStory Initiative, a nongovernmental organisation based in Uganda that promotes human rights for persons with disabilities. She is passionate about justice and human rights, having trained as a lawyer. She is responsible for providing strategic direction and advice to the board, and provides legal support. She also works directly with grassroots communities on women’s and children’s rights.

2022 Human Rights Essay Contest

ISHR is pleased to announce the 2022 Human Rights Essay Contest. The contest aims to encourage and acknowledge students who have written exceptional academic papers that address issues related to human rights. Cash prizes will be awarded to two graduate students and to two undergraduate students. Contest winners, along with other selected participants, may be invited to present their essay at an ISHR event.

ISHR says farewell to Deputy Director Kristina Eberbach

Kristina Eberbach has stepped down as Deputy Director of the Institute on December 31th, 2021 and on behalf of faculty, staff, students, and affiliates, ISHR would like to thank her for her contributions throughout the years. Kristina first joined the Institute in 2008 as a program coordinator and served as the Director of Education from 2010-2019. During this time, the Institute launched a human rights major, undertook the management of the human rights MA, and initiated a human rights summer certification.
