U Aung Myo Min of Myanmar Awarded Schuman Award

ISHR congratulates 1993 Advocate U Aung Myo Min of Equality Myanmar  who was awarded the first Schuman Award by the European Union in Myanmar for his " outstanding merits in promoting equality, non-discrimination and human rights" in the country.

The award was also granted to posthously to Burmese lawyer U Ko Ni and Daw Ja Nan Lahtaw, director of the Shalom Foundation.

Nazibrola Janezashvili, a 2009 alumnus of the Human Rights Advocate Program, returned to Columbia University to speak at the Harriman Institute on challenges facing the judiciary in Georgia.

2011 Advocate Ifeanyi Orazulike (pictured right) of Nigeria was invited to speak on a panel of LGBT advocates at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January 2017. 

He and his fellow panelists spoke about the legal, social, and workplace realities facing LGBT people around the world and encouraged businesses to improve LGBT inclusion.
